With the introduction and popularity of Netbooks, large USB drives have become even more common place, supplementing the onboard storage and also acting as backups for these tiny laptops.
Here at usb-drive-review.co.uk we are dedicated to bringing you up to date, and in depth reviews of the best USB drives around.
All of our reviews are based on hands-on experience with the product, and we use them in ordinary day-to-day situations so we can give you an honest opinion.

Storage capacity just seems to keep increasing year on year, but not everyone needs the super expensive super huge capacity USB drives that some companies seem intent on trying to make you buy. And some times a smaller but better built drive is the answer. In our reviews We look at all aspects of the products, including speed, ease of use and longevity and we'll help you work out what cpacity you need.
To help you work out what you need we recommend you follow these guidelines:
- under 1GB - Ignore anything under 1GB unless you've picked it up for free! likely to be an old model, slower than modern drives and very little room for anything more than basic office files
- 1GB - Unless you're paying ony a few dollars ook for something bigger. Although you can get a lot of text and office files on a 1GB drive, it will soon fill up if you add media, or even large PDFs
- 2GB - Really the bare minimum you should be looking for, 2GB pendrives will let you cart a fair few files around but will start to feel cramped if you use if for large media files like movies and TV
- 4GB - A good starting point, the most popular size at the moment for USB drives and representing very good value, not too expensive and plenty of room for carting you documents and some media files around
- 8GB - Worth spending a little extra for if you need the room. An 8GB USB drive will leave you room to spare and won't break the bank, you can even back up some Netbooks with one of these alone.
- 16GB - Top of the tree, you really only need this amount of storage for moving very large media files around, or to back an entire Net-book, if you can find one at a good price they will be useful for a good few years
- over 16GB - People with money to burn or those that must have the biggest drives and can't get by using traditional mobile hard disks
